Is Your Headrest In the Correct Position?

It may be doing more harm than good.

Adjusting your seat. Managing the heat. Turning up your tunes. There are a lot of things we do to make ourselves comfortable in our vehicles. However, when is the last time you adjusted your headrest? Have you ever adjusted it? It’s one area that is often overlooked.

In addition to comfort, the headrest is there to provide support both during your journey and in the event of a collision. In fact, it can save you from strain as well as whiplash. Likewise, a poorly positioned headrest can actually cause damage.

Check out these tips from the RoSPA for ensuring your headrest is always in the best possible position:

1.

The top of the headrest should be level with the top of your head

2.

The distance between the head and headrest should be about 10cm

3.

The headrest should lock into place so as not to move in the case of a collision

4.

Headrests are just as important for passengers as they are for drivers
